4th Grade Math.

Totally boring to most people, not many know that the 'second focus' in getting my Doctorate was in statistics. In descriptive statistics, using the percentile is a way of providing estimation of proportions of the data that should fall above and below a given value. The n-th percentile is a value such that at most (100n)% of the observations are less than this value and that at most 100(1 − n)% are greater. (with n as a value between 0 and 1). Thus: the 1st percentile cuts off lowest 1% of data, the 98th percentile cuts off lowest 98% of data, accordingly the 25th percentile is the first quartile; the 50th percentile is the median.

One definition is that the nth percentile of x ordered values is obtained by first calculating the rank , rounded to the nearest integer and then taking the value that corresponds to that rank.

Now that is cleared up for everyone - what does all this mean?

We found out yesterday at the 6-month checkup that 'little elle' is now in the 90th percentile for weight! In other terms, she weighs more than 90% of the rest of the 6-month-olds in America.

Don't believe me? Check out the booty:
